Portability And High Assurance For Airborne Software: The FACE™ Approach
The FACE™ (Future Airborne Capability Environment) approach is a government-industry software standard and business strategy for acquiring affordable software systems. It is designed to promote innovation and rapid integration of portable capabilities across global defense programs and to thereby reduce system life cycle costs.
In this podcast, Ben Brosgol (a member of the senior technical staff at AdaCore and Vice Chair of the FACE Consortium's Technical Working Group) will summarize the FACE initiative, describe how the FACE reference architecture promotes component portability, and show how avionics developers can leverage modern programming language technology -- and the Ada programming language in particular -- to gain the reuse benefits of FACE while meeting application-specific assurance requirements for reliability, safety and/or security.
