SINGAPORE—BOC Aviation announced it entered a purchase agreement with Boeing for 40 737-8s to be delivered between 2027 and 2028.

The Singapore-headquartered lessor said the order will bring its 737-8 backlog to 80 aircraft.

While the Airbus A320 accounts for the bulk of the BOC Aviation portfolio, with more than 192 in service, some of the company’s largest clients are U.S.-based Boeing operators. Aviation Week Network’s Fleet Discovery database shows United Airlines, Southwest Airlines and American Airlines lease 18, 14 and 13 aircraft from BOC Aviation, respectively.

In mid-December 2022, United announced plans to purchase 100 737 MAX family aircraft, exercising 44 existing options and placing 56 new orders.

In an investor briefing held last November, BOC Aviation said the industry remained resilient in the second half of 2022 despite a “challenging backdrop” and expected the Asian market to follow the upward trend in other parts of the world. The lessor said that its orderbook and available liquidity of $6 billion put it in a position to capture airline demand upturn.
