Russian Government Decides On New Aeroflot CEO

MOSCOW—The Russian government on Nov. 18 recommended Mikhail Poluboyarinov, the current CEO of the State Transport Leasing Corp. (STLC), as the new head of Aeroflot Group. 

The guideline for the government representatives on the Aeroflot board was signed by first deputy prime minister Andrey Belousov and will be sent to the company in the near future. The government owns 51.17% of Aeroflot shares and its representatives will have to vote for Poluboyarinov at the forthcoming meeting to elect the new CEO election. Poluboyarinov was the deputy CEO of Aeroflot Airline from 2000 to 2009.

Vitaly Savelyev, who had been heading Aeroflot from March 2009, was appointed as the Russian government’s new minister of transport Nov. 10. Savelyev took over from Yevgeny Dietrich, who led the ministry from May 2018.

At the same time, Dietrich was recommended as the new head of STLC.
