Air Canada has announced it is to launch a new non-stop service between its Toronto hub at Lester B Pearson International Airport and Atlantic City in New Jersey, USA. The seasonal service, to be flown under the Air Canada Express brand by Jazz Aviation, will operate on a four times weekly basis from May 22, 2015.
The new route demonstrates the continuing rise in passenger demand for travel to Atlantic City and the surrounding region and is also is a reflection of the major investments put in Atlantic City International Airport in recent years, making this regional airport an attractive opportunity for carriers internationally, as well as domestically.
Atlantic City is a resort city in Atlantic County, known for its casinos, boardwalk and beach. It is the home of the famous Miss America Pageant and served as the inspiration for the original version of the board game Monopoly.
“This new route will enable our customers to conveniently travel non-stop to Atlantic City where they can enjoy its famed boardwalk, beaches and casinos. It will also provide Atlantic City a direct connection to Air Canada's Toronto global hub,” said Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines, Air Canada.
The new flight has been scheduled to target the leisure market with flights operating to a dytime schedule on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with connection opportunities via Toronto throughout Air Canada’s domestic network. The route will operate between May 22, 2015 and September 7, 2015 and will be flown using a 74-seat Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 turboprop.
The new Air Canada operation will be the only non-stop flights between Canada and Atlantic City and will be the first regular link between Toronto and Atlantic City in five years, after WestJet ended its own short-lived operations on the route in May 2010 after just eight months of flights.
