Blu-express, operated by Blue Panorama introduced the Albanian route on Sunday, and has already suggested an increase in frequency for the route between December 15, 2014 and January 15, 2014 to meet the demand for end of year festivities.
The two-hour flight will be operated twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays, departing from Tirana at 12:15 and arriving in Genoa 14:10. The flights depart from Genoa at 14:45 to arrive Albania 16:30 local time.
Marco Arato, president of the Genoa Airport said the new route is good news for the region of Liguria: “Thanks to the airline for choosing to invest in our airport, we can maintain an important link for both businesses and Albanian citizens residing in Italy.”
“On behalf of Christopher Columbus there will be every effort to ensure the connection is being promoted in our area and is known by potential users of the service,” he said.
Franco Pecci, founder of Blue Panorama Airlines said the route will not only serve the Albanian Italians, but the whole catchment area of the port of Genoa.
“The results achieved on the routes operated in the last ten months and the new sales which have already been completed on the new flights to Genoa are the best confirmation of our ability to meet the needs of passengers and effectively collaborate with travel agents and tour operators,” he said.
The airline which is celebrating its 15th year of operation operates nine Italian airports from the Albanian airport including Milan, Malpensa, Bergamo, Venice, Bologna, Ancona, Pisa, Genoa and Rome Fiumicino.
