Individual achievement to be recognised at World Routes 2017 Marketing Awards
An ‘Individual Award for Outstanding Contribution to Route Development’ will be introduced for the first time at World Routes 2017 in September. It will be open to specialists from airports, airlines, tourism authorities and other stakeholders who have had a significant impact on the creation of new air services.
The annual World Routes Marketing Awards acknowledge the airport and destination marketing services that support the launch of new routes or the development of existing ones, making them highly regarded in the aviation industry.
The new category will shine a spotlight on the people who make the aviation industry tick, propelling growth in route networks and connecting cities across the globe. It also broadens the scope of the awards beyond airports and destinations to the rest of the aviation industry.
The airport categories will remain the same: ‘Under 4 Million Passengers’; ‘4 Million-20 Million Passengers’; ‘20 Million-50 Million Passengers’; ‘Over 50 Million Passengers’; along with a ‘Destination’ category.
Voting for the awards opens on Monday 19 June. The deadline for nominations is 28 July and the shortlisted organisations will be contacted on 1 August. The full shortlist will be revealed on 4 August in the Routes Update newsletter and on Routesonline.
Shortlisted individuals and organisations will be asked to submit their entries to the awards. Senior airline executives will review the airport and destination categories, while a panel of executives from the wider aviation industry will judge the new award for individuals.
An awards ceremony will take place at World Routes 2017 in Barcelona on 25 September during the Networking Evening. Around 3,000 delegates from 300 airlines, 700 airports and 130 tourism authorities are expected attend the event.
Voting will take place via Routesonline. For more information contact Catherine.Makrandreou@ubm.com
