Airlines can place their votes online, when voting opens on Monday, 13 June and reward their airport and tourism partners for excellence in route development marketing.
The Routes Awards provide the airline community with the chance to have their say as to which airports and destinations have provided the best overall marketing services to them over the last 12 months, impacting on their future network development plans. This may include elements such as; market research activities; marketing and communications activity, business case presentations for new market opportunities; joint communication campaigns with third parties and innovative use of technologies or techniques to support their airline partners.
Voting will close on 22 July and the shortlised airports and destinations will be announced on 26 July. The shortlist for each category will comprise between four and six organisations, which gain the most airline votes, following the six weeks of open nominations.
Airports are split into size categories from under 4m passengers to airports larger than 50 million passengers in addition to the destination category. The airport categories include: over 50 million passengers, between 20–50 million passengers, between 4–20 million passengers and under 4 million passengers.

These include Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, Auckland Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, announced as overall winners of the Routes Americas, Routes Asia and Routes Europe heats respectively. They will be joined by the winner of the Routes Africa Marketing Awards, who will be announced in Tenerife later this month.
