Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Tennessee will open its new international arrivals facility on Sept. 27, marking the completion of a key project in the airport’s $1.4 billion BNA Vision expansion plan initiated in 2017.
The international arrivals facility features six new gates that are “specifically designated for international flights with ample apron space to accommodate larger planes,” BNA says in a statement. “These gates will also accommodate domestic flights, further expanding the capacity of BNA.”
BNA CEO Doug Kreulen adds, “Not only does the international arrivals facility greatly increase our ability to serve international flights and travelers, it also opens the door for future nonstop air service to Europe, Asia, Latin America and other regions.”
The airport will also open BNA Marketplace on Sept. 27, adding 15 new dining and retail options for passengers. “The space also features 12 26-ft. life-like faux trees designed to mirror the Red Maple species indigenous to the landscapes of Tennessee,” BNA says.
The opening of the international arrivals facility and the new retail area mean the airport’s 400,000-ft.2 “terminal lobby renovation” is completed. Overall, the BNA Vision project is set to be finished by the end of this year, with the opening of an on-site Hilton Hotel in December.
BNA says it will then start $1.5 billion in additional improvement and expansion projects—to be completed by 2028. Those projects will include a new air cargo building and terminal roadway improvements.
