Qatar Airways and Royal Air Maroc have announced the launch of a strategic joint business agreement on services between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The joint business venture will benefit passengers by providing enhanced links between Qatar and Morocco, as well as adding a number of destinations and frequent flyer benefits.
Royal Air Maroc will be operating three weekly flights with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Doha, complimenting Qatar Airways’ existing seven times weekly link to Casablanca, and both airlines plan to improve flight transfers for passengers through an enhanced code-share network.
“Strengthening the ties between Qatar and Morocco, the joint business with Royal Air Maroc is a major win for Qatar Airways’ passengers flying to Casablanca, and beyond to destinations in Africa,” said the airline’s Group Chief Executive, Mr. Al Baker.
The new agreement will allow passengers to purchase a single itinerary, combining flights on both carriers’ global networks.
“This is great news for passengers doing business in African cities and for leisure travellers as well, and we look forward to having them experience our award-winning service, particularly as they may have previously used alternative gateways to get to their final destination,” he added.
The President of Royal Air Maroc, Mr Benhima said that the agreement is a crucial phase in the history of Royal Air Maroc, as it enables the airline to create a “bridge” between Asia and Africa.
“It will facilitate the movement of customers in the most convenient way due to the extensive network of Qatar Airways in Asia and the dense network of Royal Air Maroc in Africa by enabling them to transit seamlessly through the hubs of the two companies, namely Doha and Casablanca,” he said.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has announced a new shuttle service on its busy Doha – Dubai route, and the introduction of flights to Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.
The new service between the two cities will reduce overall travel time and increase convenience for passengers. The shuttle service will be offered on each of the 18 daily flights between the two cities, with 14 flights to and from Dubai International Airport, and four two and from Al Maktoum International Airport.
“The Doha-Dubai Shuttle caters to the needs of both business and leisure travellers, and provides them with a more convenient and time-saving option when travelling between the two cities. We are very excited to offer our passengers this fantastic new service that shows our passengers how much we appreciate them and value their time,” said Mr Al Baker.
Passengers flying on the Qatar Airways Doha-Dubai Shuttle will also be able to take advantage of fast-track immigration in Doha, allowing them to clear passport control in a minimum amount of time before proceeding to their boarding gates located in either Concourse A or B.
“We have had a well-established operation in the UAE for many years and with the launch of flights to Ras Al Khaimah, the travelling public will have even greater options with 196 weekly flights to the UAE,” he added.
Hamad International Airport served over 28 million passengers in one year, following its first year of operations this month. Qatar Airways now flies a fleet of 156 aircraft to 146 key business and leisure destinations across the world, and has so far announced a total of seven new destinations to its international map this year including Amsterdam, Ras Al Khaimah, Zanzibar, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan and Durban.
