This year’s Routes Africa event which will take place on 7-9 May 2013 will see the Route Exchange Airline Briefings Programme build on the strength of last year’s event with more briefings planned than at any previous Routes Africa event.
Now in its 8thyear, Routes Africa is the only network planning forum for the entire African region and the 2013 event, hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda and Entebbe International Airport, will take place in Kampala, Uganda. The Route Exchange Airline Briefings, given by senior network planners, are an opportunity for attending airports to gain an overview of the carriers, allowing them to view, first-hand, what information the airline requires from the airports when making route proposals.
With over a month to go until the event opens, already three carriers from the region have confirmed that they will deliver a briefing outlining the route development opportunities that exist and how airports can be part of their airline expansion with further briefings expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
Fastjet’s Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Bodin, will deliver a Route Exchange briefing discussing Fastjet’s planned growth strategy and their achievements so far whilst also looking at the need for greater liberalisation of the aviation market across the continent and giving a frank view of the barriers that Fastjet have encountered thus far.
Other confirmed Route Exchange briefings taking place at Routes Africa 2013 will come from Cornwell Muleya, Chief Executive Officer of Air Uganda and Jimmy Kibati, Head of Network Planning & Airline Strategy for Kenya Airways more information on these briefings will follow soon so keep reading The HUB for regular updates!
Places are limited and airport delegates should contact Simon Baxendale or Kirsty Studholme to add briefings to your diary of pre-scheduled meetings.
