It has never been more important to understand the Ukraine market with negotiations on the EU-Ukraine open skies agreement in its final stage.
Ukraine is a huge market opportunity but for many carriers there have been some restrictions to the many prospects which should soon become available. The market potential is enormous with a population of over 45 million and a growing economy and these opportunities will be available to all carriers attending this year’s Routes CIS event where a strong attendee list includes not only the major carriers from the region and beyond but also the real decision makers and political figures from Ukraine.
Attendees at the event, which will take place on 21-23 July hosted by Airport International Donetsk Sergey Prokofiev, will include Volodymyr Kozak, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Konstantin Yefimenko, First Deputy of Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Dmytro Dimidovich, Deputy of Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Anatoliy Kolesnik, Head of Civil Aviation of Ukraine and Oleksandr Grechko, First Deputy Head of Civil Aviation of Ukraine.
Routes CIS, is the only network planning forum for the entire CIS region and the 2013 event, taking place at the Shakhtar Plaza Hotel, the largest hotel in Donetsk, is expected to attract around 250 air service decision makers from across the CIS region.
Now in its third year, the event is expected to attract around 40 airlines from across the region and beyond interested in increasing air connections to the CIS countries. Almost 30 carriers have already registered to attend including three of the major Russian carriers (S7 Airlines, Rossiya and Transaero Airlines) along with VIM Airlines, JSC RusLine, Ukraine International Airlines, Wizz Air Ukraine, Etihad, Turkish Airlines, easyJet, Air Astana and most recently, Finnair whose SVP Resource Management, Greg Kaldahl has confirmed he will be at the event in Donetsk. In addition to the Face-to-Face meetings taking place, Air Baltic has confirmed that their Network Information Analyst, Mantas Vrubliauskas will also deliver a Route Exchange Airline Briefing during the event. During this briefing Mr Vrubliauskas will present an overview of the company, recent highlights, network, fleet and future plans along with discussing the type of opportunities and partnership model Air Baltic are looking at developing in the region.
Airports from across the region have also been registering to attend the event with strong representation from Ukraine, in light of the impending open skies agreement. Amongst others registrations have so far been received from "Kyiv" International Airport, Kharkiv International Airport, Lviv International Airport and the Ukrainian Airports Association.
