Voting opens for Routes Americas Marketing Awards

The Routes Marketing Awards are highly esteemed in the aviation industry because they are voted for and judged by airline network planners. Airports and tourism authorities compete to be recognised for the outstanding marketing services that have launched new routes or developed existing services.

The awards are split into three categories according to airport size: ‘Under 4 Million Passengers’, ‘4-20 Million Passengers’, ‘Over 20 Million Passengers’; and there is a fourth ‘Destination’ category for tourism authorities. The overall winner of the Americas edition will be automatically shortlisted for the World Routes Marketing Awards in Barcelona later in the year.

“T

o be recognised by our airline partners for our efforts is a great endorsement of the hard work we put into maintaining healthy and positive relationships with the airlines that fly into the Bahamas, ensuring we provide support for sustainable development.”

The voting process takes place on Routesonline. When the airlines have nominated their outstanding airport and destination partners, the shortlist will be contacted to provide submissions to support their nominations. The next stage involves a panel of senior airline representatives judging the entries.

The chief executive of Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, Fred Lounsberry, explained the significance of winning this year’s awards: “To be recognised by our airline partners for our efforts is a great endorsement of the hard work we put into maintaining healthy and positive relationships with the airlines that fly into the Bahamas, ensuring we provide support for sustainable development."

The winners will be announced at the Routes Americas Networking Evening on 15 February. The event will be hosted by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and McCarran International Airport.

Nominations for the Routes Americas Marketing Awards 2017 close on 16 December.
