The 2013 World Routes Conference programme promises to be engaging and content packed throughout the duration of the event. From the World Routes Strategy Summit, sponsored by Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), to the World Tourism Summit, sponsored by Brand USA the World Routes Conference Programme is a multi-stream programme of events which will enable delegates to hear fromaviation industry leaders from across the globe and provideing the opportunity to engage and interact with speakers and join in the debatetopics alike.
The Conference Programme, which is free to attend for all Routes delegates, will open on at 10.00am on Sunday 6thOctober with the World Routes Strategy Summit.

Day 1 highlights include: an update from ICAO, following the 38thAssembly of ICAO, on the outcome from the world’s governments on how the industry will meet the target for carbon neutral growth from 2020 (CNG2020. In the Airports – Models for the Future session the development of Airport Aerotropolis will be discussed and airline consolidation will be the focus of in the Mega Mergers panel session. On day two, cargo, security, sustainability and the future size and shape of the aviation industry are all on agenda.
There are a number of keynote addresses throughout the programme and we will hear from: Susan Kurland, Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs, US DOT; Rossi Ralenkotter, President, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority; and a fascinating insight by Stephen Attenborough, Commercial Director of Virgin Galactic, into the most ambitious aviation project on the planet.
The World Tourism Summit – 6th – 8th October in partnership with PATA, ICTP and TTG and sponsored by Brand USA
The World Tourism Summit will include keynote addresses from Lee McCabe, Head of Travel, Facebook and Christine Duffy, President & CEO, CLIA - Cruise Lines International Association. There will be a series of lively discussion panel sessions including: The” Golden Triangle” – Tourism, Airports & Airlines which will consider the economic impact of tourism; future visitor economy in Russia and Brazil to 2020 and beyond; new tourism investment models with the focus on Africa; and the links between aviation and cruising and how these can be harnessed. There will also be a series of briefings updating delegates on the latest in developments and future plans from a range of destinations across the globe.
Invest & Manage – 8th October
Prof. John D. Kasarda, Head of Centre for Air Commerce, University of North Carolina, will open the Invest & Manage conference with a keynote presentation on Investing in Airports and Airport Cities. Jack is the developer of the “aerotropolis” concept, which defines the roles of aviation and airports in shaping 21st-century business location, urban competitiveness, and economic growth. He is co-author with Greg Lindsay of Aerotropolis: The Way We'll Live Next.
Invest & Manage Airports hosts a series of briefings and moderator led panels focusing on the best practise investment and operational strategies for financing airport development. With some of the key global investors presenting the key deals which have been concluded over the last two years and hear about prospective future deals.
