A formal ribbon cutting took place at the enormous host stand at this year's World Routes at McCormick Place in Chicago to mark the official opening of the 20th World Route Development Forum. The occasion saw industry leaders from the aviation and tourism industries come together to highlight the important role stakeholder support plays in air service development.
Speaking at the occasion Chicago Department of Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino said: "On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Aviation, welcome to the 20th World Route Development Forum. We are thrilled that you are here! The best that America has to offer is in Chicago – world-renowned attractions, 25 Michelin-starred restaurants, awe-inspiring architecture, Tony Awardwinning theater, luxury shopping and two world-class aviation hubs – O’Hare and Midway International Airports."
The friendliness of our people and our distinct neighborhoods that thrive with diversity and rich culture form the heart and soul of this great city. Chicago attracts more than 46 million visitors each year, and under the leadership of Mayor Emanuel, our vision is to elevate Chicago tourism to a new level. We are certain that this visit to Chicago will exceed your expectations," she added.
