An Oct. 4 GOL passenger flight between São Paulo Congonhas Airport and Brazil’s national capital Brasilia was the first South American commercial airline flight to have onboard internet connectivity, according to GOL CEO Paulo Kakinoff in a statement delivered in flight and transmitted live on GOL’s Facebook page.

Taiwan's EVA Air will celebrate its 25th anniversary of flights from Taiwan to Europe in November 2016. Vienna was the Taipai-based carrier's first destination. The Boeing 777-300ER has replaced the Airbus A330-200 on the Vienna-Bangkok-Taipeh route from Oct. 4. ATW correspondent Kurt Hofmann was invited onboard the 777-300ER in Vienna.

Singapore Airlines has invested $850 million for its recently launched on-board cabin products and innovations for 19 Airbus A380s. Five of them will be delivered brand-new with the features. Retrofit work on the remaining 14 A380s is expected to begin in late 2018 and scheduled to be completed by 2020.
