Based in Washington, Jen manages Aviation Week’s worldwide defense, space and security coverage.
Prior to taking on her current role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
SPACEX DELAYED: The launch of SpaceX’s third Commercial Resupply Services mission to the International Space Station has been rescheduled for April 18 at 3:25 p.m. because of a Helium leak on the Falcon 9’s first stage, according to SpaceX and NASA. The Falcon 9 and its Dragon cargo spacecraft is supposed to carry 2,089 kg (4,605 lb.) of cargo to the station. According to SpaceX, a fix will be implemented by the next launch date, but the forecasted weather is not ideal for a launch.
SHADOW DOWN: An RQ-7 Shadow UAV crashed near a Pennsylvania elementary school and was run over by a car on April 3, according to news reports. The UAV, produced by AAI Corp., was part of a training exercise at the Pennsylvania National Guard base at Fort Indiantown Gap. The National Guard there also trains with RQ-11 Raven UAVs.
