Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
OPT-IN: In the continued absence of legislation that would require private companies to adhere to cyber security standards, the White House has launched a cybersecurity framework — a roadmap for private companies to better protect their critical infrastructure on their own. The framework is a kind of collection of global standards and guidelines that can help reduce the risks to cybersecurity. “While I believe today’s framework marks a turning point, it’s clear that much more work needs to be done to enhance our cybersecurity,” President Barak Obama said.
NEW DELHI — One of India’s biggest challenges in importing military goods is making sure that its systems are secure, says the leader of the country’s top defense research lab. “If we are looking at true cybersecurity we have to address the basic policy of acquisition,” says Avinash Chander, who leads the Defense Research and Development Organization, “[and] ensure that the cybersecurity features are indeed part of our process.”
