Based in Washington, Jen manages Aviation Week’s worldwide defense, space and security coverage.
Prior to taking on her current role, Jen was Aviation Week's Congressional Editor. Jen came to Aviation Week in March 2011 from Politico, where she covered the intersection of defense and politics. She also worked as a reporter and editor for Defense Daily, Inside the Army, The Other Paper and The Columbus Dispatch.
Jen received a Master’s degree in journalism as a Kiplinger Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from the University of Michigan.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is waging war with the Pentagon over how the department moves money between accounts, threatening to block such requests to Congress if they are used to start new programs. He has already blocked at least two requests in particular: one involving $29.2 million for a Navy ocean forecasting mission and another that would provide $38 million for an Army signals program.

A likely item high on its agenda is outsourcing of aircraft maintenance jobs, which the TTD has been fighting. How to broaden regulations to reduce crewmember fatigue, especially to include cargo pilots, could be another.
