He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) hoped to restore a full flight schedule for Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by late Thursday following Wednesday’s devastating fire at the international terminal. The airport operator has set up temporary structures, tents, security screening and check-in points following the blaze, which destroyed large parts of the international terminal.
Airbus and Boeing are again engaged in a serious dispute over comparative performance figures for the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747-8. Following a decision by the U.K. Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to dismiss an Airbus claim over what the manufacturer considers to be misleading advertising content, John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers, says Boeing’s assumptions behind its performance claims are “as outdated and obsolete as the 747.”
