He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.
Air Berlin plans to add a fourth position to its executive, the airline said on Friday. The company expects to name a chief commercial officer in charge of network and sales. The board currently consists of CEO Joachim Hunold, Chief Operating Officer Christoph Debus and CFO Ulf Huettmeyer.
Condor Flugdienst, based in Frankfurt, reached a pay deal with its ground workers and flight attendants on Friday, Jan. 14. Both groups will receive a 2.5% pay increase, effective this month, and will collect another 2% in November. The agreement expires at the end of next year.

EADS is entering the final phase of a transition period as the European aerospace and defense giant aims to position itself for a more profitable future and prepare for a potentially volatile shift in corporate governance. EADS CEO Louis Gallois has long expressed his unhappiness with the underlying profitability of the company, but he sees 2011 as that condition’s last year. “In 2011, we will prepare for our profitability, with recovery expected for 2012 and beyond,” Gallois says.
