He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

Luxair, the national airline of Luxembourg, has ordered two new aircraft. The carrier will take one additional Bombardier Q400 to replace one of its Embraer ERJ-145s and one Boeing 737-800. In return, it will phase out one Boeing 737-500. The airline said the decision enables it to grow capacity without adding more aircraft units. The Luxair fleet comprises 11 aircraft.
Airbus is stepping up its efforts to become a major player in the Chinese aerospace sector with the opening of its final assembly line for the A319 and A320 in Tianjin. Late last month, the Airbus executive committee held its first official meeting in China, signalling to China’s political and industry establishment how seriously Airbus takes its relationship with the emerging aerospace giant. CEO Thomas Enders says he also wanted his colleagues in Airbus’s top management who travel less frequently to see for themselves how China is evolving.
