Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.

Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

Virgin Atlantic plans to set up an all-business-class airline within the next 12-18 months, the airline said yesterday. The carrier would start services from large European cities, such as Frankfurt, Paris or Zurich, to New York and other points in the U.S., taking advantage of the open-skies agreement due to take effect in March 2008.

Airbus stresses it won't change the A350XWB design again--in spite of Emirates favoring a different fuselage concept--and experienced a boost in confidence from a large order by Qatar Airways last week. But after visiting the Boeing 787 final assembly line, Emirates President Tim Clark said that "fuselage barrels are the way forward. That's not to say that the Airbus approach is flawed, but I'm of the opinion that it represents an interim step and they will move to the barrel approach eventually."
