He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.
Airbus won't decide on possible changes to the proposed A350 design until mid-year, CEO Gustav Humbert told reporters in Dresden. "We should not be nervous, but we have to determine how to continue with the A340 and A350," he said. Led by International Lease Finance Corp. CEO Steven Udvar-Hazy, several customers publicly stated in recent weeks that they are not happy with Airbus' current A350 design (DAILY, March 29). Airbus is studying further changes to the aircraft, Humbert stated but declined to go into more details.

Europe's MRO industry is set to grow faster than the world average in the years to come, but it is facing diverse trends that will change demand and product offerings. According to a recent study by the AeroStrategy consultancy, Europe's MRO market will grow by 5.8% annually until 2014 supported by the resumption of a long-term growth trend in commercial air transport and the low-fare airline sector's development. AeroStrategy predicts 4.3% growth in the North American MRO market and 7.4% for Asia's, with a global average of 5.6%.
