Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

German leisure carrier Condor is launching 10 new routes from Munich in an effort to establish itself in the European low-fare airline market. Condor will start flying from Munich to six Italian destinations, Brussels, Istanbul, Prague and Marseille in April, the airline said yesterday. The move is unusual as the carrier is 50% owned by Lufthansa and Munich is Lufthansa's second-largest hub behind Frankfurt. Also, the Lufthansa Group also includes Germanwings, a fast-growing low-cost carrier specialized on markets linking large European cities.

LTU International Airways is not part of Rewe Group's core business, said Rewe executive board member Norbert Fiebig, who added that the company would not oppose a strategic investor taking over the airline. Rewe does not consider tourism as part of its core business, but Fiebig points out that many other tour operators don't own airlines, either.
