In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.

Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.

A Tuninter ATR-72 crashed off the Italian coast on Saturday, killing up to 16 people on board. According to initial reports, both engines failed on the flight from Bari to Djerba, a popular holiday island off the Tunisian coast. The crew declared an emergency and planned to land at Palermo Airport but decided to ditch the aircraft about 10 miles off the Sicily coast. A total of 34 people appear to have been on board.

German authorities arrested AvCraft CEO Ben Bartel for tax evasion charges, the district attorney office responsible confirmed. Police last week picked up Bartel at Frankfurt's international airport, the authorities said. The charges against him claim he set up a company in the Cayman Islands to avoid paying EUR7 million in taxes.
