He started his journalism career in 1992 as a freelance writer for Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest daily national newspaper and soon specialised in air transport. Jens joined Aviation Week and Aviation Daily in 2000 as one of the European correspondents. Later his role was expanded to cover international air transport. In 2013 he was named Managing Editor Commercial.
Jens frequently appears on radio and TV to comment on industry matters. In 2003, he received the Hugo Junkers Award of the German aviation press for his coverage of Fairchild Dornier’s bankruptcy. He was named the country’s top travel and air transport writer by the Travel Industry Club three times. Jens graduated from the Munich School of Journalism.
Aercap, Airbus’ single largest customer by aircraft numbers, is showing an interest in placing an order for the A330neo. Aercap President and Chief Commercial Officer Philip Scruggs said at the Farnborough Air Show that “we will undoubtedly look at it” and “when it is right we will move.” Of all leasing companies Aercap has the largest number of current generation A330s in its portfolio.
FARNBOROUGH — Bombardier says modifications to the PW1500G engine are tested which, if proven successful, would allow the test fleet to return to the air in the coming weeks. Mike Arcamone, President Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, says the modifications are being validated and the “testing is progressing well. We are confident.”
Airbus’s top commercial executive said the manufacturer needs to be cautious in managing its order book in the Asia-Pacific, but he sees no signs of a crisis in this critical aircraft market.
