Jessica is Executive Editor of Business & Commercial Aviation magazine. She started as Editor of ShowNews Online, Aviation Week's on-site trade show daily published at the Paris Air Show, NBAA Annual Convention, Singapore Air Show and at other significant aerospace gatherings.
Jessica has worked in television production and management consulting. While not yet a licensed pilot, Ms. Salerno has received flight instruction and has soloed.

— At 0500 CST, Empire Airlines Flight 8284, operating a Federal Express-owned ATR 42 (N902FX), crashed 300 feet short of the threshold while on an ILS approach to Runway 17 at Lubbock International Airport in Lubbock, Texas. The airplane was arriving from Fort Worth. The two crewmembers survived the crash.
— The pilot of a Schweizer 269C helicopter conducting a non-revenue sightseeing flight, looking for alligators, entered an out-of-ground-effect hover at 50 to 70 feet agl. He hovered the helicopter into the wind, which he based on the water conditions. After hovering for about five seconds, the pilot pitched forward on the cyclic and raised collective. The helicopter then entered an uncommanded right yaw. The pilot immediately lowered the collective, applied forward cyclic and left anti-torque pedal; however, the yaw continued.
