Linda Blachly is Senior Associate Editor for Air Transport World and Aviation Week. She joined the company in July 2010 and is responsible for producing features for Air Transport World’s monthly magazine and engaging content for the aviationweek.com. She is based in the Washington DC office.
Linda received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland.
Previous positions include Publisher & Editor-in-Chief, Trips & Getaways magazine; Editor, The Bowie Blade-News, published by Capital-Gazette Communications; and Managing Editor, The Prince George’s Sentinel. She has also worked as an editor for book publishers, Maryland Historical Press and BOMI Institute.
Linda lives in Gambrills, MD and enjoys family time with her three adult children and six grandchildren.
Airline share prices rose 10% between January and July, outperforming the overall stock market, IATA said yesterday in its latest "Airlines Financial Monitor." Last week, IATA reported that June international passenger traffic rose by 11.9% and freight traffic by 26.5% ( ATW Daily News, July 29).
US FAA and EASA jointly certified CFM International’s advanced CFM56-7BE engine for the 737NG. The engine is scheduled to enter service in mid-2011 to coincide with 737NG airframe improvements being implemented by Boeing. Over the past year, the CFM56-7BE has completed 450 hr. of ground and flight testing. Boeing said the improved 737NG will offer an enhanced airplane/engine combination providing a 2% improvement in fuel consumption and an equivalent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
