BAE Systems won a variety of spares and support contracts. It signed a five-year, rate-per-hour JetSpares contract with Swiss International Airlines for its fleet of 20 Avro RJ100 regional aircraft. It also inked a three-year material and component repair and overhaul contract with European cargo airline West Atlantic for its 44 BAe ATP turboprops. BAE Systems also signed “parts plus” support contracts with three new BAe 146/Avro RJ operators: Eznis Airways of Mongolia, North Cariboo Air in Canada and Dragon Air Management in Africa.

Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Co. Ltd. (Gameco) received CAR 30 approval from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia. The approval covers base maintenance on Boeing 747-400 and 767-200/-300 aircraft equipped with GE CF6 and Rolls-Royce RB211 engines. The agreement also covers non-destructive testing and component maintenance. Gameco also signed an agreement with Air Pacific Airlines for an end-of-lease C check on its Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

AFI KLM E&M inked a contract with SriLankan Airlines for Airbus A340 and A330 component support. The agreement involves closed-loop repairs for six A330s and six A340s. It also extended a component support contract with Yemenia Airways signed in 2005. The extended contract covers the services in the original agreement, including component support, pool access and repairs for two A330s.

Embraer plans to unveil upgrades to its E-Jet regional jet family around the time of the Farnborough air show to demonstrate its commitment to the product line even as it works on defining a new family of regional jets. The update will lead to improvements in aircraft fuel burn and maintenance performance, says Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, president of Embraer's commercial aviation business.
