Gulfstream Aerospace announced the expansion of its outfitting operations at St. Louis Downtown Airport (KCPS) with a total investment of $28.5 million.

The plans differ from Gulfstream’s expansion announced in Spring 2022 and now includes support from the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credit program in Illinois. According to Gulfstream, the new expansion will retain nearly 500 jobs and create an additional 200.

“We value our partnerships with the state of Illinois, St. Clair County, Bi-State Development, the City of Cahokia Heights and the Village of Sauget,” says Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream. “These relationships have helped expand our business in Greater St. Louis and cultivate workforce development opportunities that allow us to prepare Gulfstream customers and the community for future success.”

According to Gulfstream, the expansion will increase the company’s St. Louis footprint to 642,657 ft.². Gulfstream also plans to partner with local educational institutions such as East St. Louis Senior High School, The Center for Academic & Vocational Excellence in Belleville and Cahokia High School.

The expansion includes the modernization of existing spaces, state-of-the-art equipment, increased capacity for exterior aircraft painting and more. The new facilities will adhere to Gulfstream’s sustainability strategy through improved lighting, water and HVAC systems.
