Tradewind Aviation Opens New Hangar Complex At Hudson Valley Regional Airport

Tradewind Aviation, a regional air provider mostly operating in the northeast U.S. and Caribbean, has opened a new hangar complex at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport (POU) in Dutchess, County, New York.

The 50,000 ft.² hangar facility will open in summer of 2023. Apart from appealing to local aircraft management clients, the goal of the new complex is to provide additional space for overflow aircraft from Tradewind’s long-time bases at the Waterbury-Oxford Airport (OXC) in Connecticut, and Westchester County Airport (HPN) in White Plains, New York.

The new hangar will sit on two acres of ramp space and will also house office space. This news comes one year after the initial announcement of the private airline purchasing 20 new Pilatus PC12-NGX aircraft directly from Pilatus Aircraft. The first of 20 deliveries arrived at HPN in December 2022 and will continue at a rate of four per year over the next five years.

“We are pleased to be expanding with a new hangar and are looking forward to taking advantage of the services and convenience of Hudson Valley Regional Airport,” says Eric Zipkin, co-founder and CEO of Tradewind Aviation. “The Hudson Valley region is booming in many ways right now and is often referred to as the ‘New Hamptons.’ As we take ownership of additional turboprops, add more routes to our scheduled flight service, and entice more people to discover the benefits of private aviation, the additional hangar space will be a big advantage for our operation.”

The company has plans to open a second operational base in South Florida later in 2023. Further details have not been disclosed.

About an hour’s drive north of Westchester County Airport, the Hudson Valley Regional Airport is located seven miles south of Poughkeepsie in Wappingers Falls, New York.
