Cobham Aviation Services Australia has extended its lease with Falko on an Avro RJ100 and a BAe 146-300QT. Doric Asset Finance has taken delivery of one Airbus A380 (its 12 th aircraft), acquired by Doric Nimrod Air Two Ltd. (DNA2) from Airbus Dec. 2. The A380 is leased to Emirates for 12 years.
Boeing’s North Charleston, S.C. production facility has seen its first 787 “weight on wheels” maneuver, signifying that the aircraft was rolled on its landing gear. The airplane moved on its landing gear, via tug, to the next production position where electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems installation and testing will continue over the next several weeks. Installation of the airplane's engines and interior will begin soon, Boeing said.

Ethiopian Airlines (ET) said that Lome-based ASKY Airlines (KP), in which ET holds a 40% stake, is looking for potential investors to enable the carrier to operate as a multi-hub system within Africa. ET CEO Tewolde Gebremariam told ATW during the carrier’s Star Alliance event last week in Addis Ababa that KP, which was founded in 2009, is operated by ET via a five-year management contract. “We are looking for investors like South African Airways (SAA) or Egyptair (MS) and others.”
Thai Airways International (TG) will deploy its first Airbus A380 on regional routes, most likely Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK)-Hong Kong (HKG). Speaking to ATW during a visit to Toulouse to view the carrier’s first A380 on the final assembly line, TG executives said the carrier will operate between BKK and Frankfurt (FRA) only “after we receive the second aircraft delivery around November 2012. Upon receiving additional aircraft, Thai will operate to London [Heathrow (LHR)] and then Paris [Charles de Gaulle].”

Air New Zealand (NZ) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) will establish a closer partnership from March 25 providing passengers on both airlines with improved access to destinations in Japan and New Zealand. The partnership, subject to regulatory approval, will give NZ passengers access beyond the gateways of Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai through ANA’s network of 700 flights a day to 48 domestic destinations.
