Morten Beyer Associates likes Airbus Industrie's forecast of a market for 1,380 aircraft with 500-plus seats better than Boeing's estimate of only 470. Assuming traffic doubles in 12 years, it would take 12,000 180- seaters to handle the growth, compared with 3,000 720-seaters, MBA says. "Given the fact that bigger jets have lower ASM costs and strong passenger preference, we vote with Airbus."
