NATIONAL AIRCRAFT RESALE ASSOCIATION members sold aircraft valued at more than $590 million in the second quarter of 2000, accounting for 21.6 percent of the used jet transactions and eight percent of the used turboprop sales worldwide, the association reported. NARA members sold 77 used jets and 28 used turboprops in the three months ending June 30, 2000. This compares with 356 jets and 350 turboprop resale transactions worldwide, according to figures compiled by AMSTAT Corporation.
Indigo, the Chicago-based carrier that operates Dassault Falcon Jet aircraft for business travelers, received Department of Transportation clearance to offer "regular and frequent service" as a public charter. The approval marks one of the first instances in which a business jet operator received a federal certificate of public convenience and necessity, Indigo officials said. Indigo will provide the service through its sister company, AirServ, which has operated as a Part 135 on-demand carrier since January.

PJ HALL was appointed corporate controller for McKinney Aerospace, the aircraft refurbishment specialist. Hall will oversee accounting, finance, purchasing and general administration. She has more than 20 years of accounting experience, previously serving as general ledger manager for Interstate Batteries.
MARK SCHAFFER was appointed to the Los Angeles World Airports Board of Airport Commissioners. Schaffer is an independent management consultant who formerly served as executive vice president of Lowe Enterprise Investment Management. He was appointed for a term ending June 30, 2004.
ELLIOTT AVIATION won supplemental type certificate approval from FAA to install Honeywell's Mark VI Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System on King Air 200 and 300 series turboprops. Elliott is authorized to offer installation of either the Mark VII or Mark VI Class A EGPWS and is undergoing certification on a third version that will include an EGPWS peaks mode with an interface to a Honeywell GNX-XLS Enhanced CDU for terrain display. Elliott has received STCs to install EGPWS on the King Air 90, 200 and 300 series, the Beechjet 400/400A and Falcon 10 aircraft.
LIVINGSTON AVIATION at Waterloo Airport in Waterloo, Iowa, was designated a Phillips 66 Aviation Performance Center. Livingston Aviation underwent renovations after six local pilots and aircraft owners acquired the fixed-base operation a year ago. The new owners doubled the size of the main building and added new tiling, carpeting and furniture to the pilot's lounge, snooze room and conference rooms.

NORTHROP GRUMMAN realigned three posts as a result of the recent sale of its commercial aerostructures business (BA, June 19/285). Philip Teel, formerly sector vice president-program operations, was named sector vice president-materiel. He succeeds Judy Northup, who joined Vought Aircraft Industries, which was formed from the sale of Northrop Grumman's aerostructures business. Paul Coco, formerly sector vice president-aerostructures, was appointed senior vice president-Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare Systems business.
Phillips 66 Company joined efforts with Aviation Laboratories, Inc. to offer an oil analysis program for piston-aircraft owners. Aviation Laboratories, a Houston-based oil analysis company, will include its Metal Check Oil Analysis Test Kits in cases of Phillips 66 X/C multiviscosity or single-grade Type A 100 AD aviation oil. "We complete almost 100,000 oil analyses each year.
Engineers at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, Calif., have received or are expecting patents that cover backup aircraft control for emergencies, improved flight performance for helicopters and simplified inertial navigation system programming.
Models SA226 and SA227 series airplanes (Docket No. 2000-CE-28-AD) - proposes to require replacement of the brake shuttle valves with improved parts and installation of a shield over the hydraulic lines. The proposed AD is the result of the wheel brake system malfunction caused by a faulty parking brake shuttle valve. The actions specified by the proposed AD are intended to correct potential brake shuttle valve problems, which could cause the brake assembly to drag and overheat.
Model 750 airplanes (Docket No. 2000-NM-63-AD) - proposes to require removal of a certain bulkhead web doubler, installation of left and right bulkhead web doublers, and enlargement of the lightening holes. This action is necessary to prevent jamming of the roll control system, due to inadequate clearance between the control cable and the web, which could reduce controllability of the airplane. FAA estimates that 95 airplanes on the U.S. Registry would be affected by this proposed AD at a cost of $45,600, or $480 per airplane.
TERRY KRIVAK was named vice president of K-12 education for the Ohio Aerospace Institute. Krivak, former superintendent of Berea City schools, will oversee programs including the Ohio Mathematics and Science Coalition, NASA's Office of Space Sciences outreach program and the Science and Mathematics Required for Tomorrow Consortium. OAI is a private, non-profit consortium of university, industry and government laboratories.

BFGOODRICH won a contract to supply an integrated landing gear system and flight control actuation components for the CRJ900 Series regional jet. BFGoodrich will develop, manufacture and certify the integrated nose and main landing gear systems as well as provide flight control actuation components. BFGoodrich expects to begin shipment in 2001. Bombardier has orders, options and letters of agreement for 62 of the new 86-plus-seat aircraft.

Zermeno most recently was business unit manager for B/E Aerospace Global Services Group and also has served with AAR Hardware and ABSCOA Industries, Inc.
