FlightSafety International has selected Aeroglobo to provide Pratt & Whitney Canada Engine training in Brazil, the company said. Training will be offered at Aeroglobo’s facility in Botucatu, Brazil, for P&WC PT6T, PT6A, PT6B, PW100-Series, PW200-Series and PW500 engines. The facility will be equipped with training engines and FlightSafety’s Graphical FlightDeck and desktop simulators, and instructors will provide classroom and hands-on instruction.

AIE, based in Murrieta, California, has completed the first installation of the L-3 Modular Airborne Data Recorder/Acquisition System Single-LRU in the DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, the company said. The FA5300 series records up to 2,048 words-per-second for a minimum of 25 hr. and has the capability of recording four channels of high-quality audio for up to 2. hr.

The Office of Inspector General is initiating an audit of the FAA’s oversight of Suspected Unapproved Parts for the aviation industry. The audit follows a request in March from the ranking members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Subcommittee on Aviation. The members are concerned about the risks the unapproved parts present to aviation safety.

Aviation Partners, based in Seattle, has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for retrofitting its Split-Scimitar Winglet on BBJ aircraft, the company said. The approval was granted to Aviation Partners Boeing (APB), a joint venture between API and Boeing. The supplemental type certificate follows FAA STC approvals issued earlier this year. The Split-Scimitar Winglet is now standard equipment on new 737NG BBJ aircraft.

According to the Office of Inspector General, Jeffrey Krantz was charged and pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, Hartford, Connecticut, to wire fraud for his role in the sale of counterfeit aircraft parts. Among other things, Krantz allegedly bought and sold obsolete electronic parts for use by commercial buyers and the U.S. military.
