Aviation Week’s Evaluation Pilot Tim Wuerfel and Senior Editor Guy Norris recently flew Embraer’s KC-390 multirole tactical transport during a break between flight tests at the company’s Gavaio Peixoto development facility in central southern Brazil. Testing continues as the program closes on the completion of Brazilian military certification and entry into service later this year.
Aviation Week’s KC-390 flight test began with a demonstration of the aircraft’s spritely takeoff and climb performance. Rotation speed for takeoff was 121 kt., with a targeted initial climb angle of 11 deg.:
