Airbus completes first titanium 3-D-printed A350 XWB part

Airbus completed for the first time the installation of a titanium 3D-printed bracket on an in-series production A350 XWB. The bracket, built using additive-layer manufacturing (ALM) technologies (also known as 3D-printing), is part of the aircraft pylon, the junction section between wings and engines.
Pittsburgh airport to modernize terminal

Officials at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and its managing Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA) announced a $1.1 billion terminal modernization plan (TMP) Sept. 12, with construction set to begin in 2019 for an anticipated opening in 2023.
Malaysia Airlines converts 737 some MAXs to 787-9s

Malaysia Airlines has signed an MOU with Boeing to convert eight existing orders for the 737 MAX series to widebody 787-9s. The agreement also takes an additional eight purchase rights for 737 MAX 8s.
Cathay Pacific finalizes A321neo order for Dragon subsidiary

Cathay Pacific Airways has finalized an order with Airbus for 32 A321neo single-aisle aircraft. The aircraft will be operated by Cathay Dragon, the group’s regional carrier, on services linking its Hong Kong home base with destinations across Asia.
TSA certifies Analogic checkpoint CT machines

Analogic’s ConneCT computed tomography (CT) airport checkpoint screening machines have been certified by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), clearing the way for the machines to be trialed at US airports this fall.
The Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. MRJ90 flight test program has resumed after the Japanese manufacturer concluded last month’s engine shutdown incident, which led to the suspension of flight testing, was an “isolated” event.
