Parked Aircraft And Retirements Fall; Deliveries On Rise
The number of in-service commercial jet and turbo-prop aircraft keeps climbing steadily, with only about 20% of the global fleet in parked or parked/reserve status, according to Aviation Week Fleet Discovery data. For the first five months of the year, retirements were down 39%
compared with 2020 and 22% compared with 2019.
At the same time, aircraft deliveries from OEMs climbed 50% from January to May, compared with the same period in 2020.
