Czech Airlines Technics (CSAT) is growing its maintenance capabilities in Prague with several new airline contracts.
German low-cost carrier Eurowings, which launched operations in Prague last November, has chosen CSAT for line maintenance services on its Airbus A320ceo and A320neo family aircraft based at Prague Airport. The long-term agreement includes line maintenance checks of three A320 family aircraft, as well as other aircraft not based in Prague, depending on operational needs. CSAT will provide Eurowings with services including daily and weekly inspections, ad hoc repairs in the hangar and aircraft towing.
Ukrainian low-cost carrier Bees Airline has also selected CSAT for on-call line maintenance services for its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. It currently operates four 737-800s and has been operating flights between Prague and Ukraine since October 2021.
The new agreements build on CSAT’s 2021 growth in Prague. In late December 2021, Austrian Airlines signed a base maintenance agreement with CSAT for overhauls of 13 A320 family aircraft at Prague Airport. The MRO also increased its capacity for landing gear maintenance in Prague last year, investing in new equipment and modernizing its landing gear, electroplating and paint shops.
“Despite the challenges in obtaining orders from clients, alongside confirmation of set slots, especially during the last two years, the Landing Gear Maintenance team managed to complete 33 landing gear set overhauls in 2021, which is more than in previous years,” says Pavel Hales, chairman of CSAT’s Board of Directors. “In addition, we performed a great number of other repairs, individual component exchanges and electroplating jobs.”
In October, Hales told Aviation Week CSAT hopes to expand its line maintenance capacity this year from five to six lines. CSAT is also considering the addition of cargo conversion services for ATR aircraft starting in April.
