FL Technics has opened a new line maintenance station at Abu Dhabi International Airport to support Wizz Air's fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.
FL Technics already operates a line station in Dubai, and the new station will expand its presence in the region. Wizz Air’s Abu Dhabi operation is also targeting growth in the Middle East region.
Wizz Air launched its Wizz Air Abu Dhabi subsidiary in late 2019 and currently operates four Airbus narrowbody aircraft. FL Technics has supported the airline since 2020 with continuing airworthiness management services.
The terms of the new agreement in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) include scheduled maintenance, on-call maintenance, components and parts, supply chain services, project management and administration in line with requirements from the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
The new line station was recently approved by the GCAA, and FL Technics says its Abu Dhabi operation represents "a decisive strategic step," enabling it to further establish its presence in the Middle East region.
In a statement, FL Technics CEO Zilvinas Lapinskas said the agreement is the start of "more strategic projects and developments for FL Technics in the region.”
FL Technics and Wizz Air have also previously worked together in Europe. In November 2021, the two parties signed a four-year contract for FL Technics to provide base maintenance services across Wizz Air's A320 and A321 Ceo and Neo aircraft fleet from its base in Kaunas, Lithuania.
FL Technics' other Middle Eastern interests include a recently signed partnership with Saudi Arabian airline Saudia for base maintenance on its A320 and A321 aircraft fleet.
