Company: Ametek MRO

Product: Ametek MRO provides component services in more than a dozen global facilities in North America, Europe and Singapore. It can service more than 40,000 aircraft components, specializing in actuation, aviation safety, avionics, landing systems, power-generation and thermal management components. In January, Ametek MRO signed an agreement with ASL Aviation Holdings to provide landing gear services on its Boeing 737NG and Classic aircraft. Ametek MRO’s UK-based subsidiary Muirhead Avionics is scheduled to move to a new facility near Heathrow Airport this year.

2. Developing Repairs

Product: ATS is certified by the FAA, European Union Aviation Safety Agency and Civil Aviation Administration of China to complete component repairs on more than 20,000 base part numbers. It provides component repairs at its facilities in Everett, Washington, and Fort Worth. In Texas, ATS recently combined its acquisitions of American Cooler Service, Aviation Industry Repair and Texas Pneumatic Systems into a single facility. ATS’ components teams work closely with its engineering solutions team to develop repairs, supplemental type certificates and parts manufacturer approval (PMA) parts.

3. Engine Component Expertise

Product: Headquartered in Doral, Florida, Flight Power provides MRO services for engine components of narrowbody and widebody aircraft, including CFM56-3/-5/-7, General Electric CF680-C2 and Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines. In addition to repair and overhaul services for components, Flight Power offers inspection, cleaning, coating, heat treating and other specialized services. It plans to open a new facility in Doral this summer to expand capabilities and quadruple production floor space.

4. Large Repair Network

Product: The HEICO Repair Group is one of the world’s largest independent component MRO and asset management services providers, according to HEICO. It provides repair and overhaul services for components including avionics and instruments, wheels and brakes, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, flight structures and more at a dozen locations across the U.S. HEICO services more than 60,000 components and develops more than 700 FAA designated engineering representative (DER) repairs annually. In January, HEICO acquired Exxelia International, a manufacturer of electronic components and rotary joint assemblies for aerospace and defense applications.

5. AOG Support

Product: Established in 1973, OEMServices offers a portfolio of component services, including repairs, AOG support, logistics, and component reliability and performance monitoring. It specializes in components for Airbus A220, A320, A330, A350 and A380 as well as Boeing 787 aircraft. OEMServices has service centers in Atlanta, Dubai, Paris and Singapore, and more than 100 repair station partners and line support locations in Abu Dhabi; Belgrade, Serbia; and Tokyo. In December 2022,  it signed a multiyear agreement with Starlux Airlines to provide comprehensive component support for its A350 fleet.

6. DER and PMA Capabilities

Product: Wencor Group offers a variety of component MRO services, including component maintenance manual and DER component repair, as well as PMA design and development. Wencor Group has eight MRO facilities across the U.S., as well as sales and stocking locations in Europe and Asia. The group recently acquired Aero-Glen International, a Fort Worth-based distributor that offers kitting systems for the aerospace industry. In October, Wencor Group acquired Aviatron, a Part 145 repair station specializing in pneumatic component repair and maintenance that also offers DER repair and PMA capabilities.
