Collins Signs JAL Avionics and Communications Support Agreement
Collins Aerospace has signed a long-term agreement with Japan Airlines to support its fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft through its DispatchSM flight hour program. The agreement, which covers avionics, sensors and fire protection equipment, guarantees the availability of avionics and communications assets to Collins customers worldwide.
ADE Installs Its First GX Aviation Broadband System
Asia Digital Engineering has completed its first installation of Inmarsat’s GX Aviation inflight broadband solution, which it plans to roll out across AirAsia Group’s fleet. The AirAsia Group MRO subsidiary says it plans to become the preferred GX Aviation installation partner for commercial airlines in South East Asia.
Ameriflight Launches Parts Trading Company
Cargo carrier Ameriflight has launched a new parts trading company called Ameriflight Components and Exchanges. The subsidiary will supply aviation component solutions to a large network of global customers, including an inventory of more than 5,000 unique part types for sale and exchange through major aviation marketplace platforms.
MRO Workforce Growth in Rockford
The state of Illinois has fast-tracked workforce development in the city of Rockford with a $2.6 million investment that will enable AAR to create 50 new paid apprenticeships and provide funding to hire at least 15 new training instructors at Rock Valley College. AAR plans to hire as many as 250 aviation mechanics over the next year to support its recent MRO agreement with United Airlines.
LHT Providing Component Support for Canada Jetlines
Recently launched leisure carrier Canada Jetlines has signed a long-term component and expendable parts agreement with Lufthansa Technik for its proposed Airbus A320 fleet. LHT has activated an extensive component stock for the airline at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
Embraer and Royal NLR Collaborating on MRO Research
Embraer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Center for a potential strategic collaboration relating to aerospace research in areas such as MRO, air mobility, general aviation, sustainability, and defense and space systems. The companies are already discussing potential opportunities related to automated maintenance procedures.
Safran Gets Gulf Air Landing Gear MRO Contract
Safran Landing Systems has signed a five-year contract with Gulf Air to provide MRO operations on the landing gear of its six Airbus A321 and one A320 aircraft. It will carry out maintenance operations at its MRO center in Gloucester, Safran Landing Systems Services UK.
HAECO ITM Extends TigerAir Taiwan Contract
HAECO ITM has extended its agreement with Tigerair Taiwan to provide inventory technical management to support the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet until 2027. The scope of work includes closed-loop repair management, value engineering services, AOG support and a new engine shop visit support solution.
13th A330-300P2F
Elbe Flugzeugwerke delivered its 13th Airbus A330-300-P2F to MNG Airlines in Turkey. The conversion took seven months.
Gulf Air Landing Gear
Gulf Air signed a five-year contract with Safran Landing Systems to maintain landing gear on six of the operator’s Airbus A321 and on one of its A320 aircraft. Safran will perform the gear work at its facility in Gloucester, in the UK.
Porter Airlines Connectivity
Porter Airlines selected Viasat’s inflight connectivity service for its 30 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The aircraft will be linefit with the inflight entertainment system and are scheduled to enter service in the second half of 2022.
Safran Deploys IoT Solution for Tool Tracking
Safran Aircraft Engines will implement a smart tracking IoT solution from Orange Business Service to help it remotely locate and manage its tools and equipment in real time. It has deployed more than 15,000 trackers and 250 antennas at two of its key production sites in France.
Lufthansa Technik Middle East Consignment Agreement
Lufthansa Technik Middle East (LTME) has signed a consignment agreement with Killick Aerospace to provide MRO services where needed, as well as storage services for Killick’s Boeing 737 NG flight control surfaces and nacelles. The agreement also allows Killick to store a number of its larger sized spares in LTME’s Dubai South facility.
