DUBAI--Revima, the French provider of auxiliary power unit (APU) and landing gear repairs, has announced a new maintenance partnership with Malaysia Airlines which will see both parties collaborate on offering services to operators in Asia-Pacific.
Revima says the landing gear overhaul and replacement contract with Malaysia Airlines will focus on servicing third-party Revima customers from the airline’s hangar in Kuala Lumpur.
This will be reciprocated by Revima, which will offer landing gear overhauls for Malaysia Airlines MRO customers across its network of facilities, along with offering its customers landing gear replacement packages with Malaysia Airlines.
In addition, the partnership will also include Revima aiding the carrier with technical and training support for fleet landing gear replacements.
Both parties have existed agreements in place with eachother, most recently signing an A330 landing gear repair contract in November 2018. Malaysia’s engineering division has looked to return to third-party MRO work as part of a transformation program undertaken by the airline, having previously decided to concentrate on its own fleet.
Over time, the two parties will promote their joint services to IATA 3 airline operators within the Asia-Pacific region. Ultimately, Malaysia Airlines hopes to grow its share in the Asia-Pacific MRO market, while Revima will utilize the carrier’s knowledge in airframe maintenance as well as landing gear replacement experience for both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft.
The Malaysia agreement marks further growth for the company in the Asia-Pacific region following the opening of a facility in Chonburi, Thailand, which focuses on repairs for A320, Boeing 737 and ATR landing gear overhauls.
A separate agreement announcement at MRO Middle East saw the company agree terms on a six-year contract with low-cost carrier Air Arabia for the full support of its A320 landing gears. During the contracted period, a total of 40 shipsets will be serviced by Revima at its facility in Normandy, France.
