Global Regulatory Update, Sept. 24-30, 2023

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia has issued airworthiness bulletin 34-020 on potential 5G interference of radio altimeter systems to raise awareness of the potential for newly deployed 5G telecommunications infrastructure to interfere with aircraft systems, and highlight and encourage reporting of system faults.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 23-102 for Airbus A319s, A320s and A321s, requiring inspection of bottom wing skin panel 2, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued safety information bulletin 2023-10 regarding aircraft flight manual operational procedures for air data loss or erroneous air data.

EASA has issued proposed airworthiness directive 23-103 for Pilatus PC-12/45s, /47s and /47Es, amending time limits maintenance checks under airworthiness limitations section, effective 14 days after airworthiness directive is issued.

EASA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-0173 for Airbus A310s, amending time limits and maintenance checks for airworthiness limitations section part 1, safe life airworthiness limitation items, effective Oct. 4, 2023.

FAA has issued special airworthiness information bulletin 2023-09 on an airworthiness concern about certain Parker Stratoflex hoses.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-17-02 for certain Saab 340As and Bs, requiring modification of the stall warning/identification system, effective Oct. 19, 2023.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-17-01 for all ATR 42s and 72s, requiring a measurement of certain nose landing gear drag brace panels and, depending on findings, accomplishment of applicable corrective actions, effective Oct. 19, 2023.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-18-04 for certain GE CF6-80E1A2s, -80E1A3s, -80E1A4s and CF6-1A4/Bs, requiring replacement of the certain forward outer seal, high-pressure turbine rotor stage 1 disks and rotating seals, effective Oct. 19, 2023.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-17-03 for all Airbus A330-200s, -200 freighters, -300s, A340-200s and-300s, requiring a one-time special detailed inspection for discrepancies of certain overheat detection system sensing elements produced before Jan. 31, 2021, and replacement of discrepant parts, effective Oct. 19, 2023.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-17-08 for certain GEnx-1Bs and-2Bs, requiring the replacement of the stages 6-10 compressor rotor spools and forward seals manufactured from powder metal material suspected to contain iron inclusion, effective Oct. 23, 2023.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-18-02 for certain Airbus A320-family aircraft, requiring repetitive inspections for cracking of the vertical stiffeners of the left- and right-hand sides of the window frames and corrective actions if necessary, effective Oct. 24, 2023.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2023-17-12 for all Rolls-Royce Deutschland RB211 Trent 768-60s, 772-60s and 772B-60s, requiring repetitive on-wing or in-shop borescope inspections of certain intermediate pressure compressor rotor shaft balance lands for cracks and replacement of any compressor rotor shaft if necessary, and prohibiting the installation of certain rotor shafts on any engine, effective Oct. 26, 2023.

Transport Canada has issued airworthiness directive CF-2023-64 for Airbus Canada A220-100s and -300s, requiring inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the left and right motive flow fuel line assemblies, effective Oct. 2, 2023.
