StandardAero will service German carrier Lufthansa CityLine’s CF34-8C engines powering its fleet of MHI RJ Aviation CRJ900 regional aircraft.
The agreement, which will last for seven years, involves StandardAero repairing the engine type from its facility in Winnipeg, Canada. The MHI aircraft was formerly a Bombardier program before being bought by Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi for $550 million in July 2020.
StandardAero will also be qualifying its European field service team based in Rijen, the Netherlands to support the CF34 and give the airline local airside assistance. Lufthansa Cityline is a subsidiary of Lufthansa and operates flights from Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport.
StandardAero’s expertise for the CF34 stretches back 20 years. Last year, the company surpassed its 3,000th CF34 engine workscope. It also offers CF34 Authorized Line Service maintenance throughout its North American business aviation facilities, including Augusta, Springfield and Houston.
Kevin Cusack, director of business development – airlines and fleets for StandardAero, says: “This exclusive agreement is the culmination of many years of cooperation between StandardAero and Lufthansa CityLine, including support previously undertaken for the airline’s auxiliary power units, and we are delighted to expand our relationship with such a well-known operator.”
