Aeroflot Group’s MRO subsidiary A-Technics has begun operations of a new 15,000 m.2 (nearly 50,000 ft.2) hangar at Sheremetyevo International Airport following recent approval from Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency.
Located in the airport’s Northern Terminal Complex, the hangar contains three scheduled and unscheduled maintenance workshops, two cabin interior maintenance workshops, an aircraft and component repair workshop, and two storage facilities for spare parts, materials, tools and equipment. The hangar includes a telescopic work platform to facilitate maintenance and repair operations on any part of an aircraft.
According to Aeroflot, the hangar can accommodate a widebody such as a Boeing 777 or Airbus A330 alongside two Sukhoi SuperJet 100s simultaneously. A-Technics performs maintenance on each of those aircraft types as well as Boeing 737, Airbus A320 family and A350 aircraft.
Aeroflot says the latest technologies were used in the hangar’s design and construction, including air ventilation and filtration systems, automated fire control systems and an integrated PIT system to supply power to aircraft and provide grounding. It says one of the facility’s advantages is an around-the-clock control unit to monitor engineering systems of the building in real time.
In addition to its facilities at Sheremetyevo, A-Technics performs aircraft maintenance from its line stations in Belgorod, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Stavropol and Ulyanovsk. In 2020 it received EASA Part 145 approval for periodic maintenance of Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737NG, 777-200/-300 and 747 aircraft at Sheremetyevo.
