DUBAI—Jordanian MRO provider Joramco signed several aftermarket agreements at the 2023 Dubai Airshow covering aircraft maintenance and materials consignment.

On Nov. 13, it extended its partnership with Bahrain’s Gulf Air through a new agreement, under which it will provide heavy checks for the airline’s fleet over the next four years from its facility at Queen Alia International Airport in Jordan.

According to Gulf Air CEO Captain Waleed Abdul Hameed Alalawi, the agreement will help it meet demands for its expanding fleet.

“One of the significant advantages of our partnership lies in Joramco’s extensive experience and its close proximity to Bahrain,” he says, adding that “Joramco’s proximity enables swift aircraft transfers, minimizing downtime and ensuring the seamless and efficient operations.”

Joramco also signed an agreement with Emirates Nov. 14 covering nose-to-tail Boeing 777 maintenance services through the end of 2025.

Meanwhile, the MRO provider signed two consignment agreements aimed at more cost-efficient operations. On Nov. 15, it signed a consignment agreement with independent aircraft parts distributor Proponent, which it says will increase spares availability, reduce inventory costs and improve turnaround times.

The same day, Joramco signed a new customer consignment agreement with UK-based Aerospheres, a distributor of aviation industry chemicals, paints, adhesives, sealants, composites and general consumables. Under the deal, Aerospheres will consign inventory to Joramco that will enable the MRO provider to consume directly from stock.

Joramco CEO Fraser Currie says the use of consignment stock will offer a range of business benefits, including lower scrappage rates, improved cash flow and reduced freight and purchasing administration expenses. “This innovative step will not only help us reduce inventory hold costs, but it will also ensure the uninterrupted availability of materials to service our valued customers,” Currie says.
