Boeing Signs Performance-Based Logistics Contracts With South Korea
SINGAPORE—The Republic of Korea has awarded Boeing three contracts for performance-based logistics sustainment of its F-15K fighters, Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft and CH-47 Chinook helicopters over five years.
In a Feb. 15 statement the company said the contracts aim to improve aircraft availability through the use of performance data that will inform its logistics and supply chain management. It did not state the value of the contracts, deferring to South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
“Our partnership with Korea is continuing to grow as we shift from transactional support approaches to customized models driven by agreed-to readiness outcomes,” Thom Breckenridge, senior director of Far East programs for Boeing international government and defense, said in the announcement. “These agreements enhance the value of [performance-based logistics] contracts that have delivered high mission-capable rates and improved parts forecasting and procurement of the [Republic of Korea Air Force’s] F-15K fleet for more than a decade and will extend benefits to the AEW&C and CH-47 fleets as well.”
Under the contracts, Boeing will execute the work locally in South Korea and use its existing logistics model to forecast supply chain needs, procurement and delivery, maintenance training and risk management.
