President Donald Trump has nominated Gen. Charles Brown as U.S. Air Force chief of staff. If confirmed by the Senate he will be the first African-American officer to serve in the role.
Brown is a highly decorated F-16 pilot with more than 2,900 flying hours, including 130 combat hours. He is currently serving as the head of Pacific Air Forces in charge of airmen in Alaska, Guam, Hawaii, and Korea.
Prior to Brown’s current assignment he served in the Middle East as the deputy commander of U.S. Central Command.
