United States - $143.7 Billion

The United States is the region and the world's largest MRO market by spend, with $143.7 billion expected to be generated over the next 10 years, according to Aviation Week Network's 2021 Commercial Fleet & MRO Forecast. By fleet size, it also edges out China--with more than 5,700 aircraft estimated to be in the U.S. commercial fleet by 2030, compared to China's 5,500.

Canada - $17.2 Billion

The second largest MRO segment in the region is Canada, which will generate $17.2 billion from 2021 to 2030, according to Aviation Week forecast data. Just under half of this will be from engine maintenance. However, overall fleet size and aftermarket growth will decrease slightly over the decade.

Mexico - $8.9 Billion

Mexico is expected to generate $8.7 billion, making it the third largest MRO market in the North America region, according to Aviation Week Network's 2021 Commercial Fleet & MRO Forecast. Overall, the market is projected to grow at a healthy 4% per annum over 10 years.

Panama - $2.3 Billion

Panama expected to increase its MRO growth by 5.1% over the next 10 years, generating a maintenance spend of $2.3 billion, according to Aviation Week data.

Antigua and Barbuda - $127.3 Million

Despite the troubles of flag carrier Liat Airlines, which was liquidated citing the economic impacts of COVID-19 this summer before being relaunched, Antigua and Barbuda are still expected to generate the highest MRO spend of the Caribbean islands over the next decade. Aviation Week forecast data projects $127.3 million from 2021 to 2030.

Greenland - $82.8 Million

Greenland, home to an airline operating a single A330 aircraft along with several De Havilland Canada Dash 8 turboprops, will generate $82.8 million over the next 10 years, according to Aviation Week forecast data.

Cuba - $55.9 Million

Despite U.S. registered commercial aircraft commencing flights to the island in 2017, Cuba's MRO industry hasn't seen any marked growth. In fact, Aviation Week data expects it to decrease by 13.1% by the year 2030.

Costa Rica - $40.3 Million

Costa Rica, home to airframe MRO Coopesa, is expected to generate $40.3 million in aftermarket spend from 2021 to 2030.

Led by the world's largest MRO market in the U.S., the surrounding region across the border and towards the Caribbean is home to both established and growing aftermarkets.
